As of Feb 2026, people of Kitchener-Waterloo, ON, have not just one but TWO mini zine machines available to them.
Both machines were repurposed from Excel gum dispensers (called Eclipse in the US) and for a toonie will dispense a random zine to you. KW Minizine Machines are a project of KW Zinetopia that also runs monthly zine meetups. Both zine machines were decorated by local artists—more on each of them below.
KW Minizine Machine #1
Launched on: Aug 30, 2025
Located at: Whoopsie Daisy Drinks in Kitchener, ON
Art by: Miho Nagayama
The Kitchener mini zine machine can be found at the far left corner of the cafe and has a poster next to it showing the currently available zines. I assume the zines will change in the future but below is a picture of the current selection:

KW Minizine Machine #2
Launched on: Feb 14, 2026
Located at: Princess Cafe in Waterloo, ON
Art by: Paige Madill (PaigeTheArtMage)
The Waterloo mini zine machine can be found at the far right corner of the cafe near the end of the long table overlooking the street. This one does not feature a poster with the current zine selection (likely due to a lack of space), but I completely trust KW Zinetopia to have good stuff in there.

Both locations above are great places on their own and I encourage you to visit them for zines and more:
Princess Cafe for a tasty sandwich before going to the independent cinema in the same building (called Princess Twin) or on the street nearby (called Princess Original). The cafe also seems to attract people who like to sketch since there’s always someone sitting next to the window drawing in their sketchbook.
Whoopsie Daisy Drinks for coffee and a sweet treat and also to attend one of the many events they host, from Fever Dream Comedy night to KW Monthly Zine Meetup. You can get a feel of the space by watching the video from the 2025 launch event and zine fair below:
